HeyGen currently offers Free, Creator, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. Individual plans include one seat; Business starts with a base seat and charges for additional team members. Annual pricing and higher Pro credit tiers can change, so verify the checkout screen for the exact renewal amount.

• Free — $0: three videos per month, videos up to one minute, standard processing, 500+ stock video avatars, one custom video avatar, 30+ languages, and limited premium-feature trials. Free is useful for testing but is not a production plan.
• Creator — $29 monthly or $24 per month billed annually: 600 monthly credits, videos up to 30 minutes, 1080p export, faster processing, unlimited photo avatars, watermark removal, voice cloning, 175+ languages and dialects, and credit rollover.
• Pro — starts at $49 monthly: 1,000 credits at the entry tier, videos up to 30 minutes, 4K export, faster processing, customizable higher credit allocations, translation-script proofreading, and access to advanced AI models.

How HeyGen credits work

Paid plans use credits as a shared currency across advanced models, avatar generation, translation, Video Agent, model training, generated assets, and other features. Consumption varies significantly by feature, model, duration, and output type. HeyGen normally shows the expected cost before generation.

Representative current rates from HeyGen’s documentation include:

• Avatar IV Photo Look: approximately 16 credits per generated minute.
• Avatar IV Video Look: approximately 31 credits per generated minute.
• Avatar V: approximately 48 credits per generated minute.
• AI model training: 60 credits per training.

HeyGen states that Avatar IV is never unlimited, including on Enterprise. Video and translation limits

• Maximum created-video duration: one minute on Free, 30 minutes on Creator and Pro, 60 minutes on Business, and flexible or unlimited under Enterprise terms.
• Export resolution: Creator up to 1080p; Pro, Business, and Enterprise up to 4K. Translation exports require a source with sufficient resolution.

Translation can fail because of unsupported languages, background noise, multiple visible speakers, frequent cuts, poor framing, or moderation. Even a technically successful translation can contain terminology, tone, pronunciation, timing, or cultural errors.

HeyGen API pricing

The API now uses a separate pay-as-you-go balance and does not require a Creator, Pro, or Business subscription. Current reference rates include approximately:

• Avatar III: $1 per generated minute at 720p/1080p or $1.20 at 4K.

Training and internal communications

Business combines reusable presenters, templates, translation, screen recording, interactive elements, quizzes, branching, SCORM, and LMS support. This can lower the cost of updating recurring learning content, especially when a policy or product changes after the original presenter is unavailable.

Localization at scale

HeyGen can translate a master video into many languages while preserving a recognizable presenter and approximate lip movement. This is faster than scheduling multilingual reshoots, but a native reviewer should approve terminology, pronunciation, timing, on-screen text, gestures, and claims.

Sales and marketing variants

Templates, custom avatars, brand assets, integrations, and APIs can create audience- or account-specific videos. The workflow is most valuable when scripts and approvals are structured; uncontrolled personalization can amplify factual errors or produce content that feels synthetic and impersonal.

Limitations and tradeoffs

• Credit economics are complex: the same plan can yield very different output depending on the chosen model and revision count.
• Advanced avatars are not unlimited: “unlimited” standard generation does not apply to Avatar IV or other premium models.

Security, privacy, and AI training

HeyGen states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and aligned with GDPR, CCPA, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and the EU AI Act. The service runs on AWS infrastructure in the United States, uses logical tenant separation, encrypts data in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and at rest with AES-256 or equivalent, conducts annual independent penetration testing, and publishes a subprocessor list.

Business includes SAML/SSO, while Enterprise adds SCIM, centralized roles, multi-workspace controls, MFA enforcement, audit visibility, and tailored commercial terms. HeyGen says EU, UK, and Swiss transfers are supported through the Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

Its current security page says Enterprise customer data is excluded from AI model training by default. Non-enterprise customers may opt out by contacting HeyGen’s security address. HeyGen also states that its AI subprocessors are contractually prohibited from using customer data to train their own models. Buyers handling confidential media should document that opt-out, obtain the applicable DPA, review retention and deletion, and verify contract language rather than relying only on a website statement.

Avatar consent and responsible use

A digital twin can reproduce a recognizable person’s appearance and voice at scale. Organizations should require explicit, documented consent; define who can create, approve, and use the avatar; restrict sensitive topics; prohibit credential or endorsement impersonation; and remove access promptly when employment or authorization ends.

Every generated video should pass review for script accuracy, pronunciation, gestures, lip sync, visual artifacts, licensed assets, disclosure, and destination. High-risk uses—medical, legal, financial, political, employment, or public-safety messaging—need additional human oversight and may be inappropriate for synthetic presentation.

Who should choose HeyGen?

Choose HeyGen if you need frequent presenter-led content, localization, training updates, or scalable branded video without recurring filming. Creator is suitable for an individual producing 1080p videos; Pro adds 4K and more advanced-model capacity; Business is the practical team tier for collaboration, SSO, interactive learning, and integrations; Enterprise is appropriate for regulated administration, large-scale workspaces, provisioning, and negotiated data terms.

Consider another tool if you require cinematic post-production, cannot tolerate synthetic-presenter artifacts, need fully predictable unlimited generation, or cannot establish consent and approval governance for faces and voices.

How to evaluate HeyGen before paying

1. Create one representative video with the exact avatar and model you expect to use.
2. Measure credits consumed across the first render, revisions, assets, translation, and upscaling.
3. Test pronunciation, pacing, gestures, lip sync, captions, and visual artifacts with real terminology.
4. Translate the same video into two target languages and have native speakers review it.
